PNG output creates lossless raster pictures of PDF pages at your chosen resolution. It is useful for diagrams, screenshots and pages with small text that would show JPEG artifacts.
Lossless encoding describes the exported pixels, not the original PDF structure. Text is no longer selectable, and enlarging a low-resolution PNG does not restore vector detail.
